Thanks again everyone. Some very thoughtful and meaningful wishes.
Each day mom seems to progress to new levels of recovery.
I'd like to share a very funny recovery story with everyone........
My sister and I were in mom's room in cardiac ICU. Her nurse was there with her.
Mom's eyes were closed. Sis and I were telling the nurse a little about mom. We told him that mom liked to write jingles. And he said, "your mom has shingles?". We chuckled and said, no. She writes jingles, like limmericks, poems (off color poetry), etc. He chuckled and said, 'oh'.
With that, all of a sudden my mom started talking. What did she say, you ask? How's this for a 71 y/o woman, just having had major open heart surgery (and thinking she was asleep, no less):
I am in the hospital,
Trying to make everything possible.
I am in quite a bit of hurt,
But it's better than being in the dirt!
The nurse, my sister and I just broke up in laughter.
As Readers Digest says, laughter is the best medicne!
Thanks for everything MR, you guys are the best
