if this is supposed to be a 'community" where members can deal with each other freely, then moderators should stay out it unless there is a serious issue
occuring.most here are adults and we have all seeing deals fall thru.if i'm trying to purchase an items from someone and the deal does not happen, the other member can always relist.it may be a small inconvenience but relisting
an item takes seconds.........

Well on the thread that sparked this present thread, it is really up to the seller to deal with you. I don't think the mod in question meant any harm.

This is where the Moderators of the site stand on buying and selling.

Excerpt from the Site Rules:

Items for Sale:
First Post option: It is common courtesy to sell a priced item to the first person that responds publicly that they will buy the item with no strings attached. You are free to sell the item to the last person that responds, or not deal with specific individuals, but this is generally enough to earn you a reputation as a “bad reefer”.

Ultimately...the decision rests with the seller.

FWIW, I will think twice before selling to or buying from new people I have not met on this board.

Too many people don't know what they want to do, bunch flakes:(..

People tell me they want to buy frags and don't show up after I give them my address, or people listing stuff for sale, we made a deal with a set pick up time, then I see pictures of fish I am suppose to buy in someone's post\tank, WTF is wrong with these people??

Do not say you want to buy or sell if you have no intention to go through with the transaction.

That sentence is key.... i have dealt with a lot of MR members here regardless of whether i am selling or buying and everything came out nicely but that rule of thumb above is always good to adhere to...

I completry agree with this. ans this is not onle Juniors but even so called senior members (more than 1000 posts ) should follow this. I am saying this from my own experience.

Thanks.

Could'nt agree more. Another thing that pisses me off is being ignored. Listen if your not selling a certain item anymore, or if it sold already just let the buyer know either way. Why let the other person (buyer) hang on.
I think it's very unprofessional, and downright rude of certain "Senior Member(s)" who ignor PM's.
All it takes is a little common courtesy. Is that too much to ask? :grumpy:

blaming a moderator for not getting something you wanted to buy is not going to win you many friends here. the mods do not tell people who to sell to and who not to  moderators buy and sell things on the site as well, so if one is offering advice or suggestions it's for a good reason.

for the record most of the crap moderators have to deal with comes from the selling forums and group buys. who do you think people are the first to write to and yell at? :tired:

Even thou we are a community ,when dealing with money or any business of any kind ,there will always be good with the bad ,Good thing about MR .If you missed a good deal ,there will be another one right behind it.

I posted 1st on a live rock sale ,which went for $1 lbs ,the seller turned around and sold for 2ce the amount to some who offered that mush ,he sold it ,oh well what can i do ,i posted that it was wrong ,he got a bad name and life went on :D

It ok to be upset with a deal that went wrong ,trust me i know. But i thank g-d for all the good that MR brings.

so dont sweat a bad deal gone wrong ,ther will 100s that will go right :D

Speaking as a MR member, I have had great deals here and some bad ones. The ratio of good to bad however, is approximately 100 (good) to 1 (bad). 99% of the members bend over backwards to help.

Trust me, the moderators only want everybody to be happy. We put alot of time and effort into this place, we only want the best for every member here. :grouphug:

You know what your right. Don't sweat small stuff. There are more important, positive things in life to use energy on. Thank you for the insight Ronen.

I think for me it's important to remember that MR is not really about the commerce of the hobby, but essentially this is a community, with a common goal, where some folks buy and sell and trade ... I'd say personally that I've seen plenty of great deals on MR, but that 100 to 1 ratio is hard to see if you're only two transactions in, and your personal experience ratio is one to one :scratchch now that doesn't mean that the next 99 won't turn out perfect ... just harder to see
