I don't think it has to do as much with people doing their own returns as much as that most people have a tax person they go to.

How many frags you charge for a 1040EZ :lol2:.
I will give you some frags if you can figure out a way to write off all the money I spend to grow the frags.

1. write your tank off as a dependent. claim the SS# has been applied for.
2. Claim the tank is necessary for your work. It relaxes you and allows you to be more productive.
3. claim you were going to go into the frag business, write off the tank, the contents, the equipment, the trips to various stores to buy livestock, some electric usage, internet etc. claim the business was a total failure.
4. claim you are doing your part for the environment and take the tank as a charitable deduction.
5. Office in home expense - part of your office decor.
6. write off the cost of the frags as tax planning and then send me the frags.

I am sure you are right about not getting noticed but I wont take the chace nor advice a client about them. Not saying I've ever done any of those, nor have I ever suggested one of my clients do it (yup, tax prep done here) but I bet any one of those would go unnoticed, except maybe the dependent deduction.
Oh, wait - my license will be revoked. Never mind :headache:
