Ok... so I'm going to try to quit smoking again this week and have devised a plan. I've created an Amazon wish list for myself of random items that I don't need but would like to have. At about a pack a day, I'm going to put $7 a day aside, and get an item from my wish list every time I can afford one.

Most of the items are in the $25-$100 range, so I get free shipping and nearly instant gratification.

So here's my question... I have quite a few reef books on my list, as well as some cookware and am looking for other things in the same price range for my tank.

Any suggestions?

depending on how strong is your addiction. your success rate is base on 2 main factors-(nicotine craving & habit).
you need to address both factors at the same time to have any chance of quitting.
nic craving can be control with diff methods(patch, gum, needles, electric shock,etc..)
habit can be control with subsitution and changing the things that u do everything to avoid the picking up the cigs.

but no matter which methods u choose, the most important factor is yourself. You have to not only want to quit but willing to quit permenantly.

Yep! :)

It's hard to avoid things that made you feel like a smoke i.e like after a meal...
You really have to want to quit. I have been smoke free for 10 days and I really feel that I kicked the habit. This has been my first real attempt to quit smoking after 6 years.
To torture myself even more I decided to diet and go back to the gym at the same time:D Most of the time I am so hungry I can't even think about smoking :D

You have to not only want to quit but willing to quit permenantly.

I quit every year... 4 months one year, 3 months last year... hoping this month is permanent. I never have a problem quitting... staying quit... different story. That's why I figure I'll try this... if I get myself cool stuff that I wouldn't otherwise buy, I may have the motivation to keep getting cool stuff!

Dudes, the only way to quit is just to stop. Cold Turkey. Thats it!!.

As for me - been smoking for 18 years and the last thing I want before I die is a smoke :pimp: and a coffee

I always feel better after I quit, body and mind.

But seriously... I need more things to add to my wishlist to keep me quit for good. Any suggestions... good reef books, novelty tank gear... help me out!

I always think the same, but I want very specific items on an Amazon list so I can set milestones. After a few days I can get a cheap book, but it would take much longer to get something that costs more.

I'll get the cheaper items first (instant gratification while it's tougher), then as it gets easier, I'll start putting away the $7 / day for bigger stuff.

Otherwise after I quit for awhile, I'll buy a nice $40 coral but not have worked up to it. No goals that way.

Eric ,the best thing to do is just watch the money pile up :D ,nothing better then save your loot for a great vacation ,car ,clothes ,live stock ,maybe upgrade your tank

as for that 4 month thingy ,,next time you go for 4 months not smoking and you feel you need a cigg ,just eat some candy or something and put on a patch for taht day just to calm you down ,i quit for about yr and went back for 2 or so months ,then quit again using the patch ,it works .even if its mental ,but it works

Good luck and dont snap out on ppl :lol2:
