I thought I would share some pics from work. The job is the new 1 train South Ferry Terminal Station. The $400 million project will incorporate a brand new station. I've been on this job since March 2005 and have probably spent more time here then my home.

The piles on the left are holding up the existing 4&5 lines. We drilled through the existing roof and floor slabs to drive these piles. The tracks were raised and a ton of structural steel was put under them.http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=5f60C8kLtYGs2rMSsGOvNNsMn0AXRFyKiD1Hv4xQp5Fd3Ig=&size=l
This tunnel is directly under battery park. We hit bed rock about 10 feet down.http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=5f60C8kLtYGs2rMSsGOvNNsMn71thDNnCesCv4xQp5Fd3Ig=&size=l
If anyone is familiar with the globe ball that once sat outside the Trade Center and was moved to Battery Park. That's the bottom of it. It's beiing held up be rebar, concrete and four steel beams. We then proceed to blast dynamite under it. The original foundation was on the bed rock.

That concrete wall on the left is the existing 1 train tunnel, again being supporting from all sides.
