Sooo it seems like last time my Forester got an oil change they didn't put oil back in! Long story short I'm getting an OEM short block! WAAAH

Ps if anyone is or knows a reliable mechanic who can work on a boxer engine please send them my way. I had the car towed to the only guy I knew I could trust for this job 88 miles away. It would be great to have a local mechanic who is reliable and honest.

Glad I saw this.. I bring my Forester to these guys- AZP installs... they specialize in Subes. Nice couple of young guys VERY trustworthy and reliable, no screwing around with prices... in fact they post their prices for most services right on the website.

ALSO, IF YOU ARE GETTING A NEW ENGINE, YOU MUST GET ONE WITH REINFORCED HEAD GASKETS!! These gasket failures are still a problem with Subes.

I frequent subaruforester.org forums, and people come from other states to have these guys work on their cars.

BTW, I am selling my Forester if you are looking for one.

LMK what you think, hope this helps!

Thanks for all the info guys I appreciate it. I have the great people at A&W Auto Repair in Goshen NY working on it now. I will be looking into some of the suggested shops for regular maintenance. I will keep everyone posted.

@ Jcono thanks for the info on the head gaskets I am aware. Wally and the team are using the better gaskets.
