My wife is a teacher and she ordered 6 monarch caterpillars for her class.. We ordered two milkweed plants to feed the six thinking it would be more than enough. Well the plants were full of eggs and now we have about 30 caterpillars!! I ordered two more plants but I didn't realize that those might also be full of eggs lol

Long story short I need to find milkweed. I know it grows wild but I just cant find any. Ive been to lowes, homedepot, plant nurseries ect ect and no one has them. I also went out in the rain looking for some at the park. Does anyone know of an exact place where it grows??? I would prefer Queens or Nassau

This is what it looks like

Any help would be great

Thank you. If at all possible see if you can dig out the roots and wrap them with some wet newspaper. I would like to replant them in my yard. I can give you some $ for your trouble.

Found this on Google, perhaps they can point you in the right direction?

Also they seem to sponsor schools and NFP with milkweed as well, but will probably take some time as there is an application process -- http://monarchwatch.org/bring-back-the-monarchs/milkweed/free-milkweeds

Thanks for the info. Her principal isn't a nice lady. My wife has tried to get more things for the kids and she never assist her..
