Yeah I have the Garmin c330 and its a pretty slick navi unit...Plug and play out of the box...Touch screen ...all maps on harddrive, auto re-routing options when missed turns etc....I know someone with the tom tom and its alittle bit more confusing, not to user friendly in my opinion...
It is basically a no frills GPS. I didn't need (or want to pay for) BLue Tooth, FM stereo and all the extra stuff that come with the $700+ units. This cost me $549.00, it converts text to voice, so instead of just left and right, it tells you the street names. It is compact and has an internal battery so you can take it out of the car and still use the unit.
It comes with the Dash mount and Window mount.
The display is clear and very easy to see (for the passangers of course) and the voice is clear and understandable.
My wife on the other hand... I just can deal with getting those calls at 8am...RICH!!!! WAAAAAAA!!!! WAAAA!!! RICH!!!! IM LOST!... usually she gets lost going to her NJ based office. It's in the same spot it's always been in... They have never moved... My wife just has this thing with 80 / 95 and how to read the damn signs...
Now she isn't alone... she has someone with her telling her which way to go, and if she does screw up (Which she will!) the damn thing can give her alternate routes within a few seconds.
My brother baught a Megellan 6000T and it worked fine for him. He lives and works in Brooklyn, but had to work in White Plaines this week, it took him there and back. I consider it a good unit because ocassionaly he needs directions for destinations in Brooklyn and he recently started driving. So i wood recommend the 6000T, but remember no unit is 100%. This unit even recalculates if you miss a turn and it always gets you home. Check out the reviews on cnet.com and make an educated decision as to whitch unit bests suits you. In my opinion I wood recomend the 6000T.
