I am sure a lot of people here will enjoy this story and giving their opinions and I will love to hearthem. I will try and keep the story short. I received a ticket forsomething along the lines of cutting through a parking lot to avoid a traffic control device, in Lynbrook in Nassau County. I forgot toshow up to my court on the date I was suppose to. I got a letter inthe mail saying that I missed court. I could of either paid the fineor $200 bail and get a new court date.
I show up to the court house to pay my bail. The woman working the desk told me it was $250. I said it was $200 she told me it is $250 for everyone and started talking to melike an idiot. I told he to go get my paperwork and we will see. Thebail was set at $200. I paid my $200 and got a new court date.
I went tocourt, spoke to the prosecutor and it was reduced to a jay walkingticket. I get called to see the judge. This is taking place in thejudges quarters so it's just me, judgeWilliamJ. McLaughlin, prosecutor and someone else. The judge just starts going crazy on meand kept referring to a letter which the court worker wrote. He wasscreaming that he should of thrown me in jail. He would ask me aquestion and when I answered he start screaming you don't talk in mycourt. In my opinion the judge is a loose cannon.
I file a FOIL request for the note andfor the audio recording. At first I was told there was no note by the court and town. Then I told the person I was talking to at Village Hall we will listen to theaudio and then determine if there was a note. Today I got thisletter.
