Extraordinary claims require an extraordinary amount of evidence.

If I say that I have a goat in my backyard, a certain level of proof is needed. If I claim that I have a unicorn in my backyard, a much, much higher level of proof is required. A TV documentary might have sufficient proof to cover the claim of a goat in the backyard, but even then, I would remain skepitical.

Keep your feet on the ground but enjoy the show.

I assume we are still talking about half human half fish creatures. Here are a couple more thoughts.

A skeptic is open minded and does not accept things without the right level of proof. The earth revolving around the sun and a round not flat earth are proven and we no longer need to debate whether they are true or not. I remain "open" to the possibility that these concepts are not 100% correct, but it would take significant evidence to even seriously entertain the notion that they are wrong.

Mythical creatures and supernatural beings have not been proven to exist, even though man has been trying for thousands of years to do just that. I feel it is quite rational to insist on significant data to even seriously suggest the notion that mythical creatures like mermaids ever existed. I would also say that the forum to release such evidence of mythical creatures will not be a TV documentary nor the Internet.

As for belief in supernatural creatures, you can probably guess where I come down on that topic. I am still waiting for the data.

A mermaid is a mythical creature, this thing they claim is a mammal. They discover new species of animals all the time. Fish, birds, insects, mammals, reptiles etc. As reefers you can't be that simple minded to thing that every animal on earth have been discoverd already.
