speeding ticket advice anyone?

I just got a speeding ticket a couple of days ago, got caught doing 81 on a 55 on sunrise by bohemia (suffolk county). Its the first time i ever got pulled over and first ticket ever. It was also written as a traffic infraction. can anyone offer some advice on what to do ? or how to approach it in terms of guilty/ not guilty court proceedings?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your screwed lol i got one like that when i was 17 i was doing 72 in a 40 ended up with 6 points on my lisence and arou d 1000$ in fines plus my insurance skyrocketed

Theres not much you can do especially if the cop got you on radar , i plead not guilty and got a great traffic lawyer and still nothing

Don't know what you did, but IME most everyones tickets get reduced to non-moving violations, even without a lawyer...all the town/county/state wants is the $$$$
Being 17, they probably wanted to teach you a lesson!

Probably were trying to teach me a lesson so i got a better PBA card might be different because im in the city too long island may be more forgiving

You probably weren't going fast enough. If I speed I make sure to at least do triple digits. Otherwise I go the speed limit.

Please not guilty and ask the court to help you out, if you don't have points nor poor history they usually work with you.

plead not guilty. when you go to court speak to the prosecutor, ask him to plea it down to a parking violation and you can afford the fine but not the points. if you have a good driving record its worth a try.
worked for me last year, 70 in a 55. $150 parking ticket, no lawyer. i didn't even have to speak to him they were knocking all tickets down to parking. its all about revenue and they don't want to pay the cop over time to come to court. GL

You can either pay the fine/points or fight it in which case I suggest you call " The Sherm" and be guided by his advise because technically 25 mph over the posted is considered reckless.
BTW cops don't overtime for AAB just a tour or post change other wise there woul be a lot more tickets being issued ....LOL

Do not just plead guilty and pay it. It's a 6 point speeding ticket. It comes with a mandatory driver responsibility fee at DMV for the next three years and insurance hikes. Just call my office, or pm me even. It's a fairly easy fix.

Agreed! Dont ever plead guilty to any ticket ever! You can almost always find a lawyer to fight it and in most cases you dont even have to show up in court or do anything. Typically you pay the lawyer a fee around $150(whether ur found guilty or not) and thats it. They take care of it. Not sure how it works in Li but I would contact the sherm to start. But never just plead guilty and pay...

I'm not sure that works in NJ either ( court rules/ pleas ECt are different in NJ than NY)
Call sherm or another attorney who is knowledgable in this area and get valuable/professional advice that can save you a large amount of cash in the long run.

in nj you have a once in a life time chance to buy a moving violation down to an unsafe driver no points. they tell you it doesn't affect your driving record. i did it for my son, $465 and my insurance picked it up and raised me.

Quite frankly, if a lawyer says "give me your ticket, and $150 and don't bother coming to court"...the $150 went in his pocket, the ticket went in the trash, and your license is now suspended!

lol when i was 17 i got bagged with doing 90 in a 35mph / work zone / school zone / unlicensed driving in my boys BMW... Cop let me go with 2 hefty fat tickets 1,000$ea 0.o and i didn't have my licenses back then nor did i have my state I.D i had nothing on me. im so happy he let me go but those tickets messed me up he gave me 6 points on my licences before i even got one. lol then had to pay another 300 to get the points off. Deff was not a good thing.


IMO your gonna get points on your licences no matter what for that. at least i think so . i don't think there is any beating that if you got clocked in with the radar, also if you know someone in the DMV that can get you off or the tvb ticket office.
