Buying a new/used camera?

Cameras are like computers I just have no idea what is the right amount of money to spend.

I assume shutter speed is important for catching good fish photos but I'm also trying to take top down photos seems simple in theory.

I see some amazing photographers on here but I don't think I can hang with the 1k plus camera bodies plus lense and accessories.

What are the main specs I should be looking at and what questions should I be asking when purchasing used ?

I think Canon/Nokia make the best DSLR cameras. I use a canon with macro lens and it works great! A Canon Elph on "macro mode" works well also.

When buying used dslr make sure to check how many 'clicks' it has on the camera. The body may look perfect condition but may have more mileage clicks then you want. Clicks are how many times the shutter has been open and close meaning wear and tear on that part of the camera. Just a tip when buying a used dslr camera.
