They are hardcore about thier reptiles and amphibians the way some are here about their reefs

Sounds like you have to be a "good" customer to buy from them.

#5. Retail prices earn "good" customers "good" service. "Internet" or "discounted" prices earn customers DISCOUNTED services. This should be self-explanatory, yet it apparently is not. If you want to haggle, or "shop around", or compare the lowest price on-line to our prices, please feel free! However, please do not feel surprised when you are viewed as the waste of our time that you are. We are a RETAIL hobby shop. Our customers come to us for our knowledge, experience, and TRUSTWORTHINESS. Too many people want to machine-gun us with endless questions they could have looked up on their own, then haggle and harangue us for "deals" and "hook-ups", and then they have the unmitigated gall to expect us to treat them as "good customers"! Just because you spend money with a business does NOT mean that business "made" anything off of you! "Good" customers do not have to make us aware that they are "good customers"! The amount of money you spend in a store (particularly true of a single visit) means NOTHING. The amount of profit a store makes from you means much, MUCH more. If you take up too much time by requiring too much attention, and THEN are not willing to pay full price for this attention, expect to be passed over for the next, more considerate, customer!

if you look at the rest of the site it shows they are in a mall.

this means everyday they get the same questions and comments over and over, which for someone serious about their animals is going to get frustrating and old very quickly this is their fault though, no one made them locate themselves in a shopping mall.

think about having a reef store in a mall, and everyday you had to answer, is this freshwater or saltwater like a 100 times you would go crazy too.
I think these guys need to move to save themselves from themselves lol.

How about the following disclaimer. This doesn't sound odd to you? Who needs to know what their 'average' customer profile is?

#12. All are welcome. We do not discriminate when it comes to welcoming newcomers to the hobby. Okay, except for rude and/or stupid people. Our "average" customers are "white" females aged 16-45, with "white" males of the same age group as a close second, but we have ALL "types" of people who buy/sell/trade with us. To repeat, the ONLY people we discriminate against are idiots. If you feel you are OBVIOUSLY being ignored or ill-treated in our store, a serious self-examination may be in order!!!

I'm sure I'd need to do some self examination. I'll let you know what I find out! :lol2:

I find it to be a very condescending, repugnant 'philosophy'. I've never heard of any business, advertise their customer service practices by calling people idiots and stupid. Saying that the amount of money I spend in their store means NOTHING. Not to mention, if you're not a white female or male between 16-45 they will still sell to you, because they have ALL 'types' that buy/sell/trade with them. I'm sure I fall into the one of the other 'types'.

I guess I do take umbrage with their selling 'techniques'.

they did put "types" in the "same" quotes as "whites" so perhaps
they are not "discriminating" per say, unless you are an "idiot".
