it's the setting on the camera, night mode, the flash goes off and the shutter stays open to catch the available light. if you swirl the camera after the flash goes off, pointed at a light source you get the fun light patterns. it's hit or miss. depends on the ambient light. but I it like it, it gives more of the party feel than just straight flash.
