To all my fellow reefers, just to give you all an FYI, there has been an abundance of Soverign Bank Debit cards that have been dublicated. I was a victim of one of these, and they withdrew alot of cash out of my account.

If any of you have accounts at Soverign please becareful. The annoying part is waiting 10 days for your cash back.

I wonder how this all started happening all of a sudden? Was it the swap? Was it the ATM outside of the swap? I was not a victim, but I know a few people who have told me this in the last week.

Many ways this could have happened. Sometimes its even an employee at the bank. If the accounts were all opened at the same branch than that would be the case. But other times they copy the number and create new cards with the same info. Its a pain...

There are so many ways that fraud can happen. I work at a bank and I see a few people everyday suffering from it. Some banks just dispute it faster and get you u'r money back within a day or so.

I took a hit myself, but with my PayPal debit card. Someone started using it in Italy at convenience stores and gas stations.

I am trying to think- I did not use my card at the swap at all that I can remember (I took cash and paid for the swap itself via a paypal payment from a different paypal account). So I doubt it had anything to do with it. I will have to go back and look, about the only thing I remember paying with my card that day is the taxi I took to Pratt.

I got hit with this in 06, got my monthly statement from my Visa and noticed a 13,000 charge on it. Someone bought a car in Wisconson with my card somehow.

I got hit for TD a couple weeks ago...just after swap, a bunch of payments were made to itunes and wiped out my bank account

i didnt use debit card for anything either....however there are other ways that credit card info can be stolen.....some extreme hackers can use their phones with some modifications to scan magnetic strips within a certain distance of it and can take down all the info, the swap was packed so everyone was pretty close and multiple people got hit just after the swap...i might be being paranoid but we may have all gotten nailed there?

I mentioned the swap because there was a soveriegn bank ATM outside of it. I know sometimes crooks set up cameras close to the ATM to get your security pin. Or worse, the independent guy who owns that ATM gets all your info and uses it for online purchases.

Just got hit from someone trying to make a purchase at Target with stolen information from my Wells Fargo card.

I got hit in almost all my cards by book clubs and insurance things multiples times a year, until I dispute them with the card companies. Then, I found out they are some what associated with the cards. LOL
