Any Honda mechanics familiar with problems?

Ok so I need some advice from a honda tech/mechanic.

Have an issue on my 2010 Honda accord and need some advice.

My car is a lease, a 36k lease and I'm at 41k miles. It's not do back for a couple of months.

I don't mind paying the over mileage but im experiencing a strange grinding noise at start up. I thought it was a fan crunching style noise. It only happened a once in a while on a cold start.

Now it is happening very often. And today I was driving and saw my oil light come on for a second.

I do oil changes when they are needed and didn't get a chance to check my oil levels but will do so in the morning.

Then today while driving I felt like I heard this same noise happen. No slip in the transmission but heard this strange fan noise a few times.

Is this the vtc actuator causing this problem?

Since I'm over miles, am I going to be responsible for this?

I am prepared to fix it, or have someone here fix it, but don't want to go into anything blind and get robbed. This is my third Honda so they should be good to me - I hope. 2 leases and 1 purchase.

not a mechanic so i won't comment on the noises.

i don't know if the 2010 has the 5 yr/60k miles limited power train warranty....or whether your problem is "power train" related. if it's not, then yes you will be responsible for the repair since it's over the 36k miles new vehicle warranty.
i don't suppose you purchased an extended warranty?....normally on a lease vehicle, people wouldn't buy that.

since it's due back in a couple of months, you may be able to negotiate an early return and lease another...this time with a 15k mile/yr with an extended warranty only until the lease ends....not sure if honda would do the extended warranty only to the end of the lease but other manufacturer had done that for me.
you can roll the over mileage charges and the repair cost into the new lease. if you had gotten 3 cars from the same dealer, they should be a little ....just a little....more willing to negotiate to keep you as a customer.

Are you going into another Honda lease??? If so than they may just let it go just to keep a good partnership with you as a customer

I am leaning towards a pulley bearing that is going bad on you. I experience this on my honda civic. Since these bearings are seal, you can't just repack these bearing. A new OEM one from the stealer-ship is recommended if you decide keep the car.

I checked my oil. It was empty. Nearly bone dry.

Added oil, started the car and let run. no sound.

Went this Morning to my mechanic. Did an oil change again and changed filters etc. and it hasn't made the noise yet.

I'll pm him.

No check engine lights or anything else. I'll watch over the next few days and keep checking oil. Have been reading online about consumption problems and various other things. Seems like I'm experiencing the same thing.

So glad I checked oil. Wow

Cannot believe with all the technology it doesnt let me know my oil was low until it was nearly empty. And even then it only flashed while I was on an incline which could have been easily missed.

The car is going back. I'm buying a car outright. (used)

I work at a dealership now and other for the last 4-5 years when someone lease return all we do check the out side and the miles ... They will do the same the don't test drive the car ...unless your check engine is on and they scan the car and see its a engine code then they will drive it ... And see what's wrong .... You better Thank god you didn't keep driving it with no oil you would of lock up the engine and you would been FU** ... Lol

How many miles on the car if under 60k should be covered under powertrain warranty
