Accessing Encrypted files after a crash?

+1 I still use pgp, not sure what everyone else uses.

To tack this at the end of the thread, please don't ever encrypt files again using Windows XP

Check out TrueCrypt as a PGP alternative. It is open source. http://www.truecrypt.org/
Available for Windows, Mac and Linux. It can also encrypt whole disks, partitions, or files which act as virtual drives.

It's so odd that even though the Microsoft tools for this situation is a free tool but I cannot find any DL for it.
