I was so looking forward to the Belmont Stakes tomorrow to see if I'll Have Another takes the Triple Crown but tendinitis forced O'Neill to scratch him. The colt won't be racing for the remainder of the year and chances are good his career is over =(. Sad news in the horse racing world =(. :frown:

They said today on the radio the trainer reported he's being retired from racing and sent out to stud. He raced like a rock star and now hell get to do something else like a rock star lol. He's gonna be pampered for the rest of his life. Not bad if ya ask me. Just wish he didn't get injured.

what these trainers/owners did is extremely noble and was the RIGHT and ONLY decision to make. If GREED got in the way (completely shocked it didn't) there would be a 90% chance this horse would of injured himself and had to be put to sleep right there at the track. Instead these good people actually considered the animal and not there prestige and wallets...kudos to all you who work/own this animal...nice job!

I agree, the owner/trainer did the noble thing by scratching him. I'm just a bit of a cynic though. I believe if they ran I'll Have Another in the Belmont, they might have done irreparable damage that might have caused them to have to put the horse down, thereby reducing his stud value to zero. Scratching him at least leaves some value 'on the table' by allowing him to sire in the future.

Again, just being cynical. Hopefully they did it with the horses best interest in mind.

remember, this horse already won 2 out of three. His value as a stud is already at a premium if he raced or not. If this horse was healthy, the owners would have nothing to lose even if the horse was injured and put down because (trust me) they already collected his semen. For them not to race him...he must have a injury. Also, this horse i believe cost like 11,000 at an auction...lol...ALMOST anyone would risk the 11,000 to win the triple crown...i'm more cynical than you, and i believe the animals interest was only taken at heart...
