Had they put the $600 quote for the new roof in writing(on any paperwork they gave you)?

If they did then it possibly binds them to give you that price.

i have zero ties to this car, never even went to see it yet, just a couple of convos over the phone with dealer. Dont mind the cost of roof, just want to make sure the price is right for the car itself. I have been driving my 1995 jeep for many many many moons now...

IMO...that car, with that mileage, needing a new top...would be worth WHOLESALE...$15000...Retail $17-18000...BUT is the rest of the car perfect?, right color?, no body work?, good carfax?(they are often WRONG/incomplete ...still would need to be checked by a mechanic/body man) what warranty are they giving? new car or used car dealer? was the original owner 'young' and drove it 'hard'?

FWIW...Convertibles are at their highest prices in Spring...they drop in Summer...

Thanks Albano for chiming in, i was hoping u would...i was told one owner with a clean carfax (for what that is worth). No body damage except for the usual markings on lower bumpers. He is a used car dealership and with no warranty (buy as is) He is willing to sell me a warranty. Just wondering what is the most you would pay for this car? I'm in no rush to buy, jeep runs good...would like to make a smart purchase...Also how do i have a mechanic check the car? Will a dealer even let me? thanks again...

With knowing all of that, I'd pass on this one. As is will sell you a warranty is usually an aftermarket wynns or other type of bs warranty- waste of money.

I'd just go to a FORD dealer itself and find one on the lot for a good price with perfect top and buy a FORD certified extended warranty, especially if you're in no rush.

Any dealer that won't let you bring it to a mechanic is trying to hide something. Just my $0.02

This must not be 'real' dealer... NY does not allow 'as is' sales by dealers!
