Wingo, those spellings are considered european and I believe some are used in Australia and Canada. Both are acceptable, we just don't use them here.

Wingo's larger point is correct as languages do evolve over time, often incorporating "slang" or vernacular idioms. In the case of conversate- not yet, hopefully never
