Need a scuba dive camera

Well my camera that I had for 5 years went bad. My last 2 vacations I came up with only 2 pics compared to 100's. So I am in the hunt for a new one. Not looking to spend to much but want one that can go 40-110' depths. I don't need the strobe or anything to big that will make diving hard. any suggestings will help since I plan on going diving all summer. Looking to spend $200-1000

Canon G12 with underwater housing will do well for what you are looking for. Unfortunately, if you go deeper than 60ft strobes are really helpful, as is red filter on the lens. Another good choice would be Panasonic LX5. Both shoot RAW which is a big plus for me.

i picked up a Canon s90 and housing, both did great. deepest dive so far is 50' though.

I wanted to get an everyday p&s, so I shipped the G12 (my first choice) because of the size and the weight.

GoPro 2 - For Video

i think its up to 180 feet. and its 1080p and the lens is insane. Pretty good in low light situations.

My wife carries the point and shoot camera in the housing ( both by canon )
myself..i do video - sony fx7 in the gates housing.

I second the g12 with underwater housing. you could even go with a g9 , g10 or g11 for less $ and you will not notice the difference. I have a friend who has underwater pics that win awards and has photos published in nat geo , he uses a g10.

On one dive i saw a diver with a g7 in the housing, went down approx 10 ft and saw his camera sparked. Later found out he forgot to put in the o-ring and the seawater made contact with the battery and fried his camera.
