I live in NYC, and the TDS out of our tap is around 42. We just set up a water cooler with two filters (not RO/DI, just charcoal filter type setup) and after running a whole 5 gallon bucket out of them, I'm getting 90 TDS readings out of the cooler. I called the guy who sold the cooler... At first he was confused because no one ever called him with TDS readings before
He thought maybe it was throwing off charcoal dust which was harmless, but he said the filters wouldn't actually affect TDS, just chlorine and taste... Should I be worried? Should we return the unit? I guess I would need to do chlorine testing to find out if it is doing anything.
