Awilda, I agree with you which is why I posted
I have a Daughter and we don't know what the future holds.
But I also know you for the good person you are and I know you would not say something detrimental about someone who has just died. We know what her family is now feeling.
My problem or concern is the flag. IMO the Govenor is wrong.
I have a 20' flagpole in front of my house and my flag is correctly flying all the way up.
(By the way, thank you for the flag etiquite insert, I read it when I installed my flag)
I know hero's and have served with hero's, one was awarded the Medal of honor, that is who the flag lowering is for.
Entertainers have Emmys and Oscars but "real" American hero's only have the flag.
An American Marine from my area died yesterday and I did not lower the flag like I usually do because I didn't want anyone to think I was doing it for Whitney Houston.
Unfortunately no one will remember the Marine's name but that is what is the case with most real hero's.
Whitney Houston gave some money to charity and she was a great singer, but "Hero"
Absolutely not. By lowering the flag for other people besides real Hero's we diminish the true meaning of the jesture.
Just today I saw on the net a guy who was a Hungarian citizen and was POW in a German POW camp slated to be executed. He was rescued by Americans and he joined the American Army only to be captured by the Korean's. He was up for 4 Medals of honor and was awarded the medal 50 years after his service. He is a real hero.
And he can't even sing.:usa1:
This is the video of that hero, if anyone has 15 minutes to spare to learn what a hero is.
