I ate a live one too when I went to Korea but mine was more sushi style. Everyone who orders must sip a small shot glass of sesame oil so it doesn't expand in your throat and kill you!

The one I had was about the size of a half dollar and was not cooked. Didn't chew it. You could feel it in your stomach for a good 15 minutes after.
