Fixed mine few months ago... use a hair dryer and remove all the factory thermal compound. Apply new AS5, don't have to be as generous as Sony, they caked it on. Clean out the vent blades if they're clogged from dust. Mine was clogged causing overheating.

I didn't flux mine, didn't have any in hand. Just used a heat gun and carefully went over the board with it to reseal any solder contact points. Don't heat it thoroughly that the solder starts to roll/drip.

Sorry, I just winged my attempt... I bought a slim in place of it, and tried the repair on my spare time. How long it'll last, time will tell. Give it a try, plenty of tutorials on the web.
