I dont think i would only because it looked like the quality of living was better even though it was shorter. But you can't compare a situation like that, nobody knows how they would feel until that time came up. This conversation is purely opinion anyway. The only person with the experience is the OP. Technology is our greatest asset and our biggest threat.

Regardless of what the stat's say, look at quality of life now vs then. We're still in a war, only difference is not being drafted. Crime is still through the roof in NY and always will be. Look at the 80's and early 90's when i was kid. Some of those crimes on that list were probably me but thats what dumb kids do. The only reason more cars were stolen was the simplicity of it like Paul said. Everyone knew how to fix cars. Not today, all kids know how to do is play xbox and text. You're not looking at the whole picture either. Look at violent crimes. Big deal someone's car gets stolen, insurance pays for it life goes on. People getting raped, assaulted and killed is a little more important than a car theft. Those are the crimes that matter the most and we have more of it. Either way, in my opinon, the 60's seemed to be the best time.

Obviously you don't RTFP. NYC reported

1969- 105,870 violent crimes, 1,185 murders, 2,527 forcible rapes, 59,857 robberies, 34,946 aggravated assaults 250,918 burglaries and 375,143 incidents of larceny thefts.

2010- 75,977 violent crimes, 866 murders, 2,771 forcible rapes, 28,473 robberies, 43,867 aggravated assaults, 64,973 burglaries, 290,755 larceny.

Rapes went up, but I bet you the women of the 60s weren't as strong and courageous as today's women in reporting rapes.

Take off the rose tinted glasses. I'm not saying it was worse or better, just saying that it's probably the same.

Ok so obviously you feel like arguing over peoples opinions so lets do this. Take 1965-1969 as a whole. Not just highest year to try and make your point. Now we'll take 1995-1999 as a whole when i was the comparible age i wanted to be, which also happens to be the lower end of the spectrum in the 90's crime. Rape doesn't even compare. Neither does assault or robbery.

1995-152,683
1996-132,206
1997-124,890
1998-115,915
1999-107,147

Combined Murders 5,823

1965-58,802
1966-62,561
1967-75,124
1968-98,515
1969-105,870.

Combined Murders 5,223

So before you criticize Mr smart guy, take a look at the whole thing. It makes it easy to take the worst year of the 60's and compare it to the best year of the 2000's. Lets compare 1965 to 1990. That makes my point more valid as well.

It's much worse today, lets take the year 1827. Very little rapes reported on facebook or twitter.
Hardly any. Also in the same year car theft was way down and so was SPAM.
The commercials on TV were much shorter, and there was no lines at the ATM.
Security at airports was also at an all time low.

Hahahahahaha well if you look at 1776, the murder rate was through the roof in America as a whole, not just New York. Terrible year for murders that year.

I wasn't referring to you though Paul.
