Run iPhoto from the actual folder that NYC Joe mentioned. If still no go, reinstall iPhoto from the included DVDs. I think it's the first of the two DVDs, and opt to ?Install Bundled Applications Only'.

You have Mac*OS*X 10.6.8. The application requires Mac*OS*X 10.7 or later. thats what it tells me...do i have to upgrade my OS X???

a mac is not a pc it's a MAC.

technically a mac is a pc, considering pc stands for personal computer.

Now you may be running Mac os or windows OS, but you still run the operating system on a personal computer.

Just like a tablet is a tablet, but then you have an iPad running ios and an android tablet.

I will have to upgrade this program for my iphoto to work? is this my only option?
No!

10.7 is Lion, and you will need to upgrade to use said software.

Correction iPhoto '11 is for lion, iPhoto has been around much longer than that. But if he has or had a previous version he just needs to find the previous version he had (check the factory discs) and he can re-install said version.

I checked again and even with iPhoto '11 you still don't even need Lion lol.

Did you check and see if your Mac came with a disc called iLife? It's a suite of products one of which is iPhoto. Maybe you re-installed the OS and had iLife on a separate disc? You can always just try and buy ilife '11 from the mac app store and you'll get iPhoto included.
