so we're driving back from work and see a sign:

H&H indoor shooting range.

Keala, the star of the show, says, "I've never shot a gun before!"

So we go for the afternoon. It's mostly a pistol range. $9 for the lane for the DAY. THen it's $7.50 per gun, as many as you want to try. You just buy the ammo.

I started Keala out with a .22 Her first shot she was shaking and scared it would kick and hurt her. She laughed after she pulled the trigger and screamed "THIS IS SOOOO FUN!" She put 6 out of the first 10 shots in the black and only got better.

She ended up liking the .357 the best.

I had fun with a Desert Eagle. I'm really impressed how accurate the gun is, but it's a bit too big for even my hands.

Anhow, this is me with the DE at 15-20 yards.

Man I forgot how much fun it is to shoot. Maybe I should buy a gun. . .

Herman, it was a .44 They had a .50 revolver, but at $3 a shot I wasn't going to bother. The whole box of 50 of .44 was $14 ish.

Jonathan, She's like my sister out here on tour. so not a first date by far. (remember the show is about a fat chick. . .)

BC, for $3 for one shot of the .50, you should have shown her how a handgun can put you on your arse.

BTW, yours was a nice grouping. :tank: Think it was the sights? Or you pulling? (Let me guess, you're a righty :lol_large )

Missy, I never said keala is fat. . .

And I am a righty! (how'd you guess :P) the only thing I didn't like about the DE was the 10lb trigger pull. Of those three outside the black 1 was me trying a double tap, the other two were me taking my time. I'd ease back on the trigger and nothing would happen. I'd put it down for a sec then just aim and pull. and yeah. pull to the right.

If it were mine the sites would be adjusted accordingly. . .

SGT BS

Sight alignment
Grip
Trigger control

Breathing
Stance

This is the key to shooting straight.

Double tap is always like that never exactly where you want it but close enough to stop the threat.

Sights are nothing after you shoot a box of ammo you should be able to compensate for the sights on the weapon being off.

10lb trigger pull try a 12 lb pull DAO. After a day at the range you're ready for carpel tunnel surgery!

Sorry Russ his grouping to the left of the traget(his right) would be the gun "getting away" from him due to recoil.
if you're right handed and "yanking or jerking" the trigger the rounds should wind up to the lower left (lower right) of the traget.

the chief is right a day at the range for us was hard on the hands.
In my unit we Qualified 4X a year with our hand guns and heavy weapons
for me it was my .38, 9MM, shotgun, Mini 14, MP5
can you say long day???
like anything else fun at first, tiring at the end

Does anyone know of a shooting range open to the public with no shooting experience?

Up in Orange County. Sorry.
I don't know why you'd need experience to shoot at a range, that's where you'd go to learn. At least outside the five boroughs you don't even need a course to buy a handgun, just a license.

I called a couple place in NY and NJ last year and they said you need to take a course or have a license. PA doesn't have any requirements.

Russ you need to get a permit and most counties now are requiring you to take the handgun safety course. MOst ranges will not allow a non permit shooter unless you have a shooter with a permit with you.
