This week is my 38th wedding anniversary and I am almost out of ideas for gifts for my wife.
We have gone on many trips to off the wall places, I took her around Manhattan on a helocopter, we did the horse and buggy thing through Central Park a few times, ate at the top of the Trade Center and all the usual stuff. In a couple of weeks I am taking her Hot air ballooning but I am looking for something really special.
Any Ideas?
:love2:
Yes, I know, I am very romantic.

Nothing says I love you like something random and spontaneous, arrange something around the date of the anniversary so everything is in order and the morning of the anniversary hop in the car with her and jump on a plane. Surprise vacation is something that she won't soon forget.

Congratulations! BTW

I hear women love bigger tanks even though they pretend not to...
She doesn't even know that we have a tank now.

I booked tickets to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We live so close but New Yorkers never think to go there as it is a tourist thing.
I used to see it every day when I worked in the City and I bring my boat near it but we never actually went in it. I am embarassed about that as my grandparents and everyone's Grandparents around here came through Ellis Island.

I took my wife on a lot of spontaneous trips over the years and we almost ran out of places we really wanted to go. We hit almost all the Caribbean, Hawaii, Australia and Tahiti. We did some of Europe, the Greek Isles, Sicily Turkey, and Istambul.
I know she wants to go to Germany, England and Ireland to see the castles but I want to go to the Galapagos, Madagascar and the Coral Sea.
When I get too old to dive I may want to go to those places but I really don't do cities. After working in Manhattan for 40 years I look to get away from cities thats why Bora Bora was my favorite place.
I think the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island would be great, then we will walk over to ground zero to pay our respects, it is only two blocks from there and I have not been there in a couple of years.
We will visit some friends working in the City and maybe our Daughter who works on Park Ave.
Then my friend owns the best restaurant in the city so we will eat there. That is in Astoria Queens. It will be a full day and I think fun.:)

Our first date was a free ride on the Statin Island Ferry which happens to be about 100 yards from the Statue Of Liberty Ferry where I am taking her :lol2:

I was on a 30 day leave that you get before you went to Viet Nam and I had no car or money. We may include that ride again this week, thanks for the Idea. :p

Hey Paul, congrats on making it to such a monumental anniversary. It's never easy and always a milestone.

Enjoy the day spent with your bride. I know my wife and I savor each day, regardless of where we spend it. I'm sure you do too.

Happy anniversary,
Russ

Russ we always enjoy our time together and are still best friends. We usually hang out together. Imagine if we didn't get along for all this time.

When we were first dating in 1970 I was in the army and went to Nam for a year. I got a letter from her every week and a bunch of care packages.
Don't forget, there was no E Mail or cell phones then. How could I pass her up?

We did the tourist thing (even though we live here) and I took my wife to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
I looked up my Grand Father's name and found him as all my ancestors came through there. I am glad we went because as Americans and New Yorkers, I felt I really should go at least once.
Then we went to my friends restaurant and didn't know that he was just listed in Zagat as the # 2 restaurant in all of NYC and the #1 restaurant in Queens. He cooks for the Mayor and guests once a week at Gracy Mansion.

Of course while everyone was taking pictures of the Statue, I was looking for amphipods on the rocks there

The Freedom Tower is coming along nicely also. If I was still working I would be working on it which would have been an honor.
