Getting frustrated with all the extra crap going into this addition to the house. What was supposed to be done by now, has gotten a new time frame of 2 - 7 months. Thanks to the township and their unclear rules that they are now even reviewing, because no one up there has a clue what the exact zoning laws are. Now my plans to set up a larger tank have been pushed back as a result. All I want to do is get this crap finished up so I can put all my fish into one larger tank.

I deal in commercial construction all the time. Have never been held up with permits and crap like this before. After the town accepted all the prints and plans they are now putting it on hold to double check things.

Yea it's mainly just BS, mostly because my neighbor works in that department with her daughter no less and they are finding any little reason they can to slow things down. I have a lawyer on it and he is looking to have it removed from her hands and into an independent outsider of some sort. Yea now just 28 more days until a hearing on this matter.

don't give up, if they are you're neighbors, more than likely you will win.

Hhmmm........ Wonder why they would to that to someone like Jaaa...... =o

j/k Sucks to hear man. When you first said the township had issues it sounded a bit fishy. Stuff like that usually doesn't happen unless its a major complicated addition.

Wish you the best with that man!

Shouldn't be too hard to get your case appointed to someone else though, I mean if they are your neighbors they've got an invested interest a court judge will see that and reappoint someone else to that case quickly and you can move on with life.

??? not so sure about that...'Small Town Politics'/the 'Good Ole Boy Network'... sometimes VERY hard to get anything done, in local town boards/courts! Out of town attorney may be the only solution!

Not sure what stage your at if you need zoneing, or you are already under plan review, but if someone in the department is holding you up on purpose you can call the state they will respond. If its plan review the town has 21 working days to look it over. The trick here to hold you up is if they find something the clock starts over. If they find 10 things they should tell you all 10 at once but if they wanna hold you up they will tell you 1 then wait tell you another and wait. For this after the third time the state would step in. Calling the state will cause you some other issues the town will give you a rough time during inspections. The town has 72 hours to do an inspection but again if they find something it starts again. Any inspector can find something to fail you no matter how small it is. The state is a rough call ive seen it done sometimes it turns out good sometimes it creates issues. If your neighbor is doing it on purpose the state would step in and even have her terminated

Tough call wish you luck, all the town building dept. in NJ are way out of hand the last 5-10 years.

Yea, im hoping all is resolved soon enough. That is why I went with a trusted lawyer that I know personaly and not just some guy out of the yellow pages. Everything was approved and then I got a call saying they need to look over a few things. I knew right away that the neighbor had gotten her hands on the plans. I was told it might be a variance issue but everything was approved and the builder and I looked into everything and found nothing wrong. The neighbor a few houses down did an addition roughly the same size and had not one hold up. As well the neighbor across the street added another garage and no issues. The neighbor next to me holding things up is also the same neighbor that spray painted my car awhile back. Not sure if all of you remember that thread.
