36 million!

New York loses 36 million US gallons of water a day to leaky pipes. I just found this out.... someone forgot to give me the memo.

I heard about it many years ago. Back then, they said it wasn't worth fixing because the cost to fix it is many times more then the lost water is worth.

You know the D.E.P. & NYC didn't realize until after they installed water meters about 25 years ago. They thought they were going to make a killing in revenue, after a couple years when dollars weren't adding up is when they figured out they were losing so much water.

Yeah then add up.. all of the hydrants that are opened up and run all day because of wasteful people.
