This is an authentic baseball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

My grandfather was at a game many many years ago and caught it and was able to get it signed. It was handed down to me years ago.

My grandfather did shellac the part with the signatures

Just wanted to share this, going to get put away in the safe deposit box tomorrow!

Wow! Not sure if the shellac would affect value or not. Maybe some. Ever think of getting it PSA verified? That would certainly help value. I would just be nervous shipping it to them.

Funny you said that.... PSA is right in Parsippany, NJ. I just literally emailed them!

Didn't realize they were that close. My father has some things he wanted to get PSA certified. A couple Mantles and some other cards but he was always worries about mailing them from NC.

The Shellac will hurt the value as collectors want the baseball in original condition.Encase it after you get it appraised.A 1927 one with Babe's sig is going for 6k right now.PSA will help your value.

I'm hoping that having both signatures on the same ball, and one those two will add a little value to it.

I have seen that excellent condition one sold for about $27k. I know that mine is not excellent.

Your ball is so rare that who knows what the value is despite the shalac.

With that said, I am a sports memorablila collector, or I was when I had a house. Def get the sigs authenticated by PSA...ship via fedex amd u will be fine!
I have sent thousands of dollars of autos/memorabilia to Beckett/psa for grading, never once had an issue.

Thanks! My grandfather shellacked (sp) it, so that is how it as given.

I think I am going to contact PSA to get it authenticated. Did they also appraise it??

They don't,they just grade it and verify the signature as real.

I had my Mantle ball authenticated by JSA at a card show at the Westchester County Center...maybe wait for one of those to come around so you can do it in person?

PSA or JSA. I got confused by JSA, they are located in Parsippany, NJ. But PSA is the renowned authenticator.

PSA and Beckett are the most respected authenticators.You'll get more money if graded by one of those.Not sure if Beckett grades baseballs though.

Mine was done by JSA...James Spence...be prepared to shell out some dough for authentication too...it's worth it, but I was a little shocked.

I actually emailed him and I never got a response from him. So oh well. Will probably cost me like $300 or so to get it done.
