i have 2 kids.i can care less if i have to give them a different snack.they will get over not eating a sesame bagel or a reeses pieces trust me.its not going to mentally destroy them when they get older.politics have absolutly nothing to do with it.im more concerned about keeping other kids safe not just my own.is it really such a big deal really.how horrible would you personally feel if you made this a big deal with the school board and they over turned the decision and a week later kids were messing around and the kid with the deadly allergy gets a seed in his mouth and ends up dying.im sure you would feel personally responsible and his parents would find you responsible.anything is possible with getting things in your mouth.kids are messy.look at the little boy who almost died from getting raccon feces in his system.he almost died from a parasite that wasfound in the feces.who would have thought a child would end up getting raccon feces in his mouth

My brothers son 18 months old is a level 5 .my bro loses sleep just thinking about having to send his son to school when its time .they found out he's allergic to peanuts when some one gave him a peice of pbj sandwich .within a few minutes we had to call an ambulance he swelled up and his throat was closing .he's fine now but now needs an epipen with him at all times .I hear what ur saying but I bet if u actually see how deadly this can be and how serious this really is u might think its over reacting .I thought the same till I seen my nephew have the reaction its scary ****.bottom line is we all care for our children .pay taxes for schools and we all want our children to come home to us every night .so I say let the schools do what has to be done to provide them with the safest school environment possible

Duke, u hit it dead on...Only thing is most people wouldn't feel too bad if it was a child they didn't know personally.
Sorry to say but most people suck..society has become numb to most tragedies.

I AGREE!!!! But the policy does not work. I told them enforce the policy correctly. How they can allow kids eat items in the lunch room and then go directly outside and all play together. They don't wash hands nothing. I think that if they are going to enforce a policy then enforce a policy!!!

How can saying they can't have it in the classroom but can have it in the lunch room make sense? When in the classroom the teachers can watch over those children much better.

I feel for these kids I really do. According to a post above "I suck".

I know how deadly it can be. Again! Peanuts are the problem here, yes kids are allergic to peanuts and can be fatal.

But where is the line drawn. So next another kid will get hives from strawberries so they ban them. What about the kids with gluten allergies, shall they ban everything with wheat?

None one has told me that anyone is allergic to sesame, I was told "may be".

I'm sorry but that is not right to have a blanket statement. Have that child tested and if they are then shown to be allergic then that is a different story!

I guess I suck then. And I am far from NUMB to any tragedy. The liberals in this country are making it worse every day.

Politics has everything to do with it. Lets just ban the stuff so that there is less of a chance to get sued. I don't care what anyone says, that is the ultimate thing. Yes it is supposed to protect the student, but in the long run the cash is where it lies.

Thirty5, by no means was I referring to you...
I was just commenting on what duke said...he said people might feel bad if something was to happen, and all I meant was don't count on it.
Goes for anything, not just this subject..how often do you see strangers do something nice and not expect something in return...

Yes, money is the problem...its cheaper for the district to tell u not to send stuff into school, then to provide a seperate allergic free area or a 1:1 monitor to watch over a young child.
I agree and would love to have a separate safe area for my child, but even the school puts money before safety. Everything has a monetary value...including a child's safety.

how he's stressed out like crazy ova it

LOL you hit the nail on the head! I am super stressed about it. My wife is a school teacher and she agrees with me. She says that things will never change which they might not. But as long as policies are implemented with zero question, they will just become more and more restrictive.

I am just asking for them to revisit the policy and really see if they are in fact doing the right thing here.

I cried like a ***** the other day when I heard "God Bless America" where the little kids talked about it.

I do not want to see kids hurt by any means. My job requires me to keep people safe, even the people I dislike.

How about this for some more info. Kid that "may be allergic" to sesame quite often visits McDonald's. Did you know that McDonald's is the 3 largest user of sesame seeds in the world? Do you think that McDonald's segregates their kitchen???

Parent is doing a great job keeping their own kid safe!!
