hey guys i got a question for any of you gear heads out there. my buddy has a 2003 nissan 350z. while he was driving it today he turned off a road onto another, heard a pop and his check engine light, tcs, and slip lights all turned on. the car seems to run fine, but has a prolonged start time. i work for chrysler and can get my hands on a scan tool tomorrow but im trying to come up with ideas now.

any help would be great thanks

I know those cars are notorious for weak transmissions, pretty sure they had a few recalls on them. While I was driving my brothers 350z years ago the transmission went and all the dash lights came on and the gauges all went to zero including the digitals, but the car still drove. I would go with Rick though, it's probably not as bad.

If youre close or anywhere near Lyndhurst, I can scan it and let you know. If his abs lights on you prob wont be able to get in with a code reader, you need a Nissan specific scan tool, or at least a program for it.

thanks rick for the link, seems to have most the same symptoms, ill get the codes tomorrow.

audi0s, wish i were closer, i dont really want him to drive the car much, at least till i find out how serious the problem is but thanks for the reply.

lfsmarineguy, i pray this is far less involved then that. the trans seems so far to be intact. but i did mention it to him.

thank you all for your help!!!!

When my brother had the car for a few years, Nissan replaced the transmission 3 times... and only one of them was sort of my fault but they did it anyway. He should check the paperwork on the car and see if the recalls were taken care of.
