At only 1.8 years of age she is already assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of a 29g nano. Her current duties include but are not limited to water changes, running test on water, feeding and pointing out any obvious issues.

Fish was the 3rd word in the vocabulary when she was just 1!!... Now she even name my clown nemo... lol

Here are some shots of her in action:

In case some of you are concerned please breath easy; all chemicals were handled by me and she in noway have any reach to them as they are locked away. My wife baby proofed this house even from me...

Very cute.....but please make sure you LOCK UP those test kits. The chemicals in the test kits are NOT toys. Your daughter is adorable and as much as you see her growing and thinking she knows what's going on in the system, she is still a curious child and none of us want to see her 'experiment' with the poisons she's playing with.

Kudos to our next generation of reefers. :)

Following up on my last post......

I'm not sure if you ever drank these Nik-L-Nip liquid filled wax bottles, but they look awfully similar to some of the colors we get in our test kits.

Just being cautious as a father............

Russ i appreciate the concern, but i should have mentioned this in the start; All my chemicals are in a high kitchen cabinet right next to my hard liquor and wine (By high i mean its sometimes hard for me to reach). The actual test was performed by me and she in noway is actually handling any chemicals. I just thought it was interesting how she was watching me run tests. Thats how this idea for a thread got started.

Russ no offense but i think those ices are more concerning to me... lol

All jokes aside i really do appreciate the heads up as a father. Sometimes you never really know what the other person knows and it would really suck if something happened and nobody said anything.

It Does make it fun when the kids get involved, my 4 and 2 year old Don't let me work on the tank unless they are involved :)
They help me clean the tank, they also help me match colors on the test kits... Cause to me the colors never look the same lol.... (daddy it's yellow) is the best .
We have a count every day, when I get home from work we count to see if all the fish are still there ;-)

I cant wait till she can say "daddy i need my own tank"... I love how she wants to be so involved with what i am doing. I cant even feed my fish without her yelling "me!!" and showing me her two little fingers indicating she wants to pinch the flakes...
