I know it's the news and sensationalism sells but the lion is not that potent unless you are allergic. I know several people who have been stung, some several times, and nobody is dead or paralyzed... Slow and don't pay attention, but not dead.

Painful when being stung but easily neutralized with hot water(not boiling water.) Learned that in Florida last year. People use a flame flower to quickly pass over the spine and then they would just treat them like any other food fish.
