Dude. Get that checked out even if you didn't have any symptoms ...... Only a DOC can confirm that.
Hope everything comes out ok.

There are a few very common ticks in this area. The brown dog tick, dog tick and deer tick to name a few. Only the deer tick CAN transmit Lyme Disease. I emphasize CAN because it doesn't always carry the disease.

Here are some pictures to help you identify the tick:
Brown Dog Tick
Dog Tick
Deer Tick

Take note of the size of the deer tick in the pictures. They are really tiny.

Which tick bit you?

Also, if you were bitten by a Deer Tick and it did transmit Lyme, the 'bullseye' you refer to doesn't always appear. So just because you don't see it, doesn't mean you didn't contract Lyme.

Hope this helped a bit

I grew up in the woods. You're find unless you get a ring around it.

But if you have health ins, just go to the doctor for piece of mind.

Matt, I live in the woods for the past 36 years and still do. The ring around the bite does not always form even though the Lyme Disease has been transmitted. If you get the ring, you've got Lyme. But you can also have Lyme without getting the ring. So your information is incorrect. Please don't pass that on any longer. People need to know the ring is NOT the only sign.

You make it seem like i am maliciously giving false information. This is what Ive always been told from everyone ive ever had a conversation with about it.

But like I said (the part you omitted to make a my point seem moot), go to the doctor for piece of mind.

PS: Anyone going on a Reef Forum for medical advice can not take anything said as fact. You have google and a primary care doctor - call them.

Here's the thing; you may not have the rash and you may not show any symptoms now. One day six months to a year from now it will knock you on your ass and by that time you will have forgotten about the tick bite and will be running from doctor to doctor trying to figure out why you can't get out of bed.

I have seen this happen to my wife, my brother in law and my neighbor. My brother in law has been on intravenous antibiotics for two months and hasn't worked in over three.

The worst part is that testing for lyme is inconclusive; weather it's the ELISA test or the western blot. Many times results come up with false negatives.

Ticks carry many other co-infections besides lyme such as:
Babesiosis Ehrlichiosis
Colorado Tick Fever
Q Fever
Powassan Viral Encephalitis
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
Tick Paralysis
Tularemia
Bartonella
Ehrlichiosis

If in the future you start to feel any unexplained symptoms like: fatigue, achy joints, migraines, stomach pains; it is important to see a lyme literate doctor who will get you on the right antibiotics. Dr. Daniel Cameron in Mount Kiskco is who my wife and her brother use.

If you have Netflix, check out the documentary Under Our Skin.

If you can't even find the site of the tick bite, chances are you're fine. But as other's have pointed out, Lyme and other tick diseases don't always present immediate symptoms. Since you don't have the tick, go to your Dr. Chances are, he'll recommend testing for Lyme every 2 weeks, for 4-6 weeks. Or he may just give you a 2 day dose of doxycycline, which apparently works well to prevent Lyme if taken right after the bite. In the future- KEEP the tick. Its very important. I get ticks on me occasionally. Twice in recent years they have been imbedded. Both times I kept the tick. First was the common dog tick, which, believe it or not, I got right here in my own neighborhood, Rego Park. A few days after I removed it, I got a large bruise. I knew it wasn't a deer tick, but I got tested for Lyme anyway, and got a Rx for antibiotics that I didn't need to take in. 2nd time was at my summer place out on LI, and I knew it was a deer tick. I removed it in the morning, and saw my Dr in the afternoon. Already by then I had a 2" diameter dark red bruise. He said it was the beginning of what would eventually become the "bull's eye", and put me on doxycycline right away. While the tick was positive for lyme, my tests were negative because I was treated so soon.
