Ok I'm on the market looking for a new slr camera
I'm leaning to the nikon d3100. Any feed feed back or suggestion will me greatly appreciated. Or where can I find the best deal on it.

I like the smaller nikons. I have the d40x. Canon are also a very good choice. I would hold the camera in my hands before I buy. It must feel good and comfortable in your hands.

Get something with pre-set options. Then once you know how to play with it you can start using it manually and when your ready you can start moving to a pro camera.

I like canon but nikons are just as good.

I am a canon guy. I have a 50D and I love it!

I just got the D3100 from nikon .... I think you should get that one, so we both can look crazy trying to learn this camera ;-)

I have had it about a year now. The only thing is that the 50D does not do video if that is something that you are looking for. But most of the newer models do video.

Really unless you are married to a brand, because of past use or if you have any lenses then honestly for a basic user it really does not matter. I only got Canon cause a professional photographer friend of mine uses them. So he was able to help me with the cam. And now that I have Canon, I started with an Xt, I will stay with Canon becuase i have multiple lenses and no way I am going to start over and buy new body and lenses. If you are going dSlr then make sure you decide cause once you go with one brand you will probably not going to change!
