Hey guys, I am going to start taking violin lessons starting next month. Just wondering if anyone here plays the violins and can help out with private lessons. Also any recommendations on quality violins in the area?

Hahaha!
Actually I used to play the violin really well when I was 11 back in junior high. Havent played it for years and forgot everything. I want to start back again. I learned how to play the piano last year, and I loved it. Like to keep myself cultured I guess.

I played piano for 12 years- and guitar for about 8. Then lost track of them in college and haven't played for the last few years- starting to get back into guitar, but its hard now to find the time to play... and frustrating since I can't play like I used to!!!

Also played piano for 12 years. It was the greatest thing in college because it was a way to relax and drift off into another world. When I used to practice, I was totally focused only on the music; nothing else mattered. Haven't played in some time. Played mostly classical works. Chopin, Bach, Grieg, Debussy, Rachmoninoff, Tchichovsky... brings back some good memories...

I play the violin. I just got a new one at a shop in Chinatown in Flushing that I am very happy with. Most of the violin stores that I found were for concert level violins and are priced accordingly. As for lessons, I would inquire in the store -- I took lessons when I lived in California... The name of the shop is Snow Stringed Instruments and the number is 718-353-4450. I think it's on Prince St. but I'm not sure. Good luck. It's a hobby that makes reefkeeping seem cheap.

I'm a trumpet player. Manager to play my way into Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall (London), Lincoln Center, Rain Forest Concert, and toured numerous countries throughout the world. I even was in Australia with a band when my daughter was born.
