Who has some sort of green energy ideas and experience on ponds?

I have a 150G converted to a FW pond type application in my front yard. I need a self powered solution for water aeration. I may not have full sun due to big trees around.

Any one has experience using a solar or wind system to share?

It's just a stock 150gal tank? Or a 150gal prefab pond?

It's an custom old tank(not a pond, I left outside for years. So I fill with more water than rain water and enjoy the single cichlid left from couple generations back swimming around-all valuable ones were given out already. Everyone else in the area want me to put couple more fish there, so I need to upgrade the aeration first before doing that.

The tank last 2 winter already with all the icing and de-icing. :tank: it's really tank I guess.:tank:

Anyone has 2 baby koi or an African Prince cichlid to share. I have plenty of java moss and couple other plants to return for the favor.

Why not construct a small external waterfall?

That's what I am thinking but I still need some energy source I don't want to run a power line out. Couple years back, next door construction people stole my electricity while I am away to Kansas. The monthly bills were ~$1500 for 3 4 months and the dispute never get settled. Even though this is a different location, the eye prick is still here.

I installed 22 solar panels on my roof which generates almost 4,000 watts of power on a sunny day. I also have a goldfish pond that runs indirectly on this as well as the rest of my house.

How much of an investment would the solar panels be? In laws are looking into doing just that, I hear it can pay itself back over time if you feed electric back to the grid.
