If there is anyone that is affiliated with a Home Theater Installations company or can refer an excellent one please pass it along. I am currently dealing with Audio Exchange and Lyric which are both NYC based. I am looking to get some competitive bids for a whole house install and would love to support my fellow reefers if at all possible.

Thank you,

Thane

Mmmmmmmm Bryston!!! Gotta love a 20 year warranty. Plus they pay the shipping to Canada.
I think the owners name I'd Joel. Or Barry. In any event,, one of them died a few years back. I don't remember which one.
All the guys there are life long audio guys. They all seem to know there stuff.
If your going to use subwoofer for you setup. I would go with one of the servo Velodynes. DD or Hgs or whatever the current model is and one Bag End 18".
Or perhaps 2 of each depending on room size.
The anthem processor is great but don't disregard an Integra.
Myself and 2 of my friends run them and we are all very happy with them. The audessey feature is a great room tuning tool also

Chef so far I have all the speakers(still need sub) for my theatre just need the amp, processor, blue ray, media server, and house inter gration. Integra makes a great pre/processor and I will not rule anything out. As a matter of fact I auditioned a DHc-80.3 a while back and loved it. I however do like the bryston amps mated with my speakers(b&w) for "theatre applications". I am a firm believer of tube amps however not for theatre. Regarding subs I have listen to a couple of solid performers(db1, dd12+, dd15+. Hues, fathom, and sunfire.). So far the fathom and the velodyne are clear standouts. For processor I want to listen and watch the Anthem statement, Bryston sp3, and the classe ct-ssp. So many other pieces to listen and watch.... ;o) love it !!!!

Wow all great,,, informed choices. I can see your thingking with the speaker amp combo. I love Bryston amps they have a lot of clean current.
Velodyne makes great subs. I've had an Hgs 10 for years. It has never failed me and its gotten some abuse and a VA1012 for years before that
I remember you posting your audio system once if I'm not mistaking.
Your taste seems to be carrying over into the HT side. Lol. You know, minus the tubes.
What are you using for your display?

I have a couple that I have been thinking about. If I go projection which I have an older Sharp unit which was great for the first 4 bulb replacements, however I had many ongoing issues with my projector that it left a bad taste in my moulth. With that said if you want to go big there is no other real way to get around it. I have also been looking at the sharp 90" and the new sony 84". The sony was impressive but the price tag makes it a little prohibitive. If I go projector I have to look at a couple. The Jvc, Sony, opt, and runco. Screen wise I have been using a Stuart gray hawk and love it so I would at least save that part and invest it back into the projector. I have to tell you just a lot of things to fail with projections. From trigger faults, to screen motors burning out, to bulb replacement to name a few and the fact that it is average at best under daylight conditions. Part of me would love to just get the 90" but the extra 32" (current screen is a 122 ") is a lot....... :splitspin

Problem was you bought a Sharp Unit =X. For Projectors (depending on use-- I am assuming home theaters) Depending on budget I usually stick around the Epsons, Sanyo (currently own), and believe it or not the Sony VPL's aren't half bad.

For home integration, there are a lot of iPad based apps and good software/hardware mixes out there, depends on how complex you want to get.

Bluray- I still think the Playstation 3 is the best player so far.

Subwoofer- I second Chef's comments on Subs. Velodyne HANDS DOWN if you want some serious bass and good sounding bass.
