oh yeah, i was going to offer my friends bike but for a first time rider, i'm sure everyone is telling him a gsxr or newer cbr is not the most prudent choice. the older cbrs were lighter and more flickable compared to the heavy gsxrs.

tell him if he's going to get one, do it soon, the good deals are dwindling as it gets warmer. best time to buy woulda be the week before black friday or xmas, just as an fyi. :)
and tell him to do the msf course please.

has he ever road before ? and i dotn agree with the older bike being better, newer bikes handle so much better and are lighter, i dont reccommend a 1000 for a first time rider, if he is really serious, can get him a yamaha r6 with a 100 miles for around 5500, and more so then those couse's i would suggest the california super school they have it at njmp

Tell him to look at a Yamaha FZ6 love this bike and as recommended take the MSF. Also check insurance rates before purchasing a sport bike FZ6 is much cheaper.

ummm....i think the old fz is not super comfortable and not easy for a beginner. i agree the cbr's are a better choice. also the older ninja 600 are super easy to ride....took my road test on that thing... complete the tight u turns with no problems.

+1 on the msf course....spend the money on the course before thinking about a bike. will save you a lot of money on plastic fairings and save your skin. i think you even get 10% off on insurance.
