I am starting a small tank and was thinking of going mostly with sps this time. I have had larger tanks, and rapid sps growth was never a concern.
But with a small tank I was wondering, if I limited my calcium limit to say around 300 to 350 versus the typical 400 usually recommended.
Would the sps still remain health, yet have a slower growth rate, so as to stay in scale with the tank size longer. Tank dia are 48" x 6" x 7"

Thanks Daniel

we don't usually have a problem with sps overtaking the field of view in our nanos, so I say don't limit it from that angle on purpose because the calcium at a safe/consistent level will benefit so much else in the tank. I experimented no-dosing of a few sps/lps nanos and found the systems to be drab and unstable after months of life but in all fairness others did fine with their no-dosers per their own reports. for me the dosed ones flourished best and didn't outgrow the tank. I don't know exactly what the correlations are, I suppose they are directly in line with exoskeleton genesis and maintenance, but my heavily calcified/aged nanos had so much more tiny microfauna growth such as spirobranchid worms by the thousands and healthy crab/shrimp populations
