Hello All,

I am not new to this hobby by any means. But, Im in the market for a protein skimmer for my 29 gal. Bio cube. I know all about the Fission Skimmer from Current, I installed one on a friends tank a while ago, and it seemed to create a lot of bubbles, I messed with it, tried it all different ways and never got it to work right. Is there another that I could use for my new bio cube when the time comes. Just started it on Friday 6/8 with 7 lbs of rock and 30 lbs of sand. Any sugg. would be appreciated. Its just gonna be soft corals no stonys.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but anyone got an idea which is better, the Sapphire or the Tunze? I've just been given clearance to start building up the equipment for a nano by my wife and I want to get it right. Thinking 24 gallons roughly. :)

my remora puts alot of bubbles in the tank, and i'm not happy with it's performance overall. i'm going to have to suggest against it. have you looked into a stand alone skimmer that is pump fed?

nice to meet you guys also consider shopping here, I'd say I've spent around $2000 between these places on nanos over the years

aquaticeco.com (the largest inventory of professional supply I know of shy of carolina biological)

petsolutions.com, been using them since 1997 but back then it was just pet solutions and you phoned them, no it wasn't rotary before you go there

Hi there,
have one of these 29 Bio cube myself since 3 weeks now, just got the oceanic bio cube skimmer for it. It looks as I imagined a little flimsy, but I can`t tell exactly if it works and how efficient it is. The direction for the use and adjustment for that Skimmer is not telling you exactly how it works best. It reads to adjust the air flow so the bubbles will stop at the top of the reaction chamber (the cylinder over the air stone-Lime wood block). but the bubbles could go higher up the pipe into the collection cup, build a crown and leave behind the stuff it has attached to it. I do not know how it is correct set up. Does someone know if there has to be a break in time until the bubbles collect enough matter so it get more thick of a slime bubbles and creep up the pipe in the collection cup and overflow then?
By the way, when I filled my tank the first time (using a gallon milk jug) I got only 18 - 19 ( lost count) gallons into it, so don`t go by the 29 gal for supplement dosage.
Thanks.
