This is what I have sitting on my desk. 8)

Specs:

Nano Cube 12 dx
stock lighting (2x 24w dual PC)
stock return pump
2-3 inches sand/crushed coral mix
8-10 lbs rock (half branch, half regular)

one fire shrimp
xenia elongata
pink leather frag from my tank
couple of mushrooms from my tank
green star polyp frag from my tank
blue and red leg hermits
5 snails
one fan worm
Soon to be added---one Yasha shrimp goby and one randall's pistol shrimp (on order from Marine Depot)


I stacked the rocks in a decending shelf pattern.

Whaddaya think? :)

Really nice aquascaping. My nanocube looks way overcrowded. Yours is nice and open with great places for coral placement. Nice work!

I'm a big proponent of using some branch rock to create a frame and build up some shelves on it. It worked very well in this nano. I put two irregularly shaped chuncks down on the tank bottom, then wedged a Y shaped branch into each and leaned the branch against the back. Then I put the flat plate shaped rocks in the branches moving back.

Can't wait to get it stocked with a few nice corals. 8)

Great idea. So far I've only used branch rock in open areas along the back of my tank, just for the cool look of them. On my next tank I'll have to try to use them more as building blocks. Thanks for the tip!
