I'm going to try to document the set up of this planned system. My plan calls for three 10gal tanks that will cascade down one into another to a common sump.

The top tank will be a fuge, macro and pods, with a white PC light

The fuge will flow into the SPS tank, with a current 70w Sunpod.

The SPS tank will flow into the LPS tank, with a current dual satellite.

The LPS tank will flow into the sump.

The first tank is a refit of a drilled ten gal I had sitting in storage.

I made some mods with scrap acrylic.

The sump is one I made for a nano build off.

The rest of the tanks I bought from a pet shop that was closing. They are all new AGA 10 gal.

I will have to drill the rest of the tanks. Last night I cut out and glued a jig and coolant dam to cut the holes with my dremel.

With the scroll cutter for the dremel all you have to do is place the bulkhead on your jig media and cut around it.

This will give you a good edge to run the tool around the inside of.

The points I'm using are made by forney and a twenty pc set is the same price as one dremel point.

Jig will be sealed to the tank with modeling clay so the dam will hold the coolant.

More to come as this progresses. Oh this is the first of two systems the other one will be for softies.

dogpoor,
Your picts may not be showing because your photo bucket is setup as a private album.
Go into your user settings (profile) and mark your ablum as public and see if that helps.

Made a trip from Arizona to Home Depot in St. George Utah today, for egg crate. This will provide three levels with open flow in the SPS tank.

If UPS can find us I should have my acrylic solivent in the next few days. They seem to have problems finding us in Beaver Dam

I am interested enough for you to keep posting....

I like the cascading idea, can't wait to see it set up. I also admire the fact that you (like me) use your washing machine for a work area.... My wife gets so mad at me when I build stuff and leave it laying all over her washer and dryer

Thanks for the comments. The hope is that I can dose the top tank( fuge ) with phyto and some of it with get to all the tanks.
I still need to come up with something to cover the pump intake to keep fresh hatched brine shrimp from getting pumped into the pod tank.

Cut the hole in the SPS tank and installed the acrylic back, bulkhead, and stand pipe.

Overflow will be built as soon as the Rio pump gets here.( currently sitting at FedEx in Oakland)

I prevented the scratching off the glass, by the dremel base, on this tank by cutting the hole directly into the AGA lable.

The dremel is working well as long as you
A) prevent scratching

sticker, tape or the like under the base

B) back up the glass

I stack wood blocks and card board inside the tank to support the glass

Can't wait to see this all set up.

What bit do you use for the dremel?

I have a 2.5 gallon I am thinking about sticking on top of my main for a small refugium, it would have to be drilled though.

I have a dremel

pump is hidden in the base of the overflow and glue is setting on the SPS tank.
Next step is to cut the holes in the fuge and install some flow directing acrylic.

I have been delayed while working on my mother in laws tank. We are setting up a 20gal for her for X- mas.
The rest of the bulkheads came in and I have a few days off so hopefully I can get some things completed.

Do you have a picture of where they are going?

Are they going to be one over the top of the other? Or just slightly elevated....

directly over each other. This will be a 24" wide stand with three shelfs.
At this time all I have is a drawing, but the stand should be complete this week. The plant I work at has shut down till after the first.
