OMG!! Your tanks are amazing! I'm new here and am gathering my info, I wondered if you would tell me exactly what is lighting your ten gal? I also have a hood setup, and am under the suspicion I could use more 'specilized' lighting.
Thanks knucklehead and Illflyaway, The light I have at the moment is 2 20W 50/50 coralife compacts. I am planning a DIY canopy with more light (probably 3 65W PC if it fits).
btw its really really really hard to take good pictures of mantis unless they pose for more than 5 seconds. All mine does is dart around the tank and then go back to his rocks. IMO feed him frozen krill, shrimp, crab and scallops. Mine didn't take to brine pellets
Illflyaway Anne, thats awesome! I can't wait to see some pictures once it's all set up! Happy reef building
Bojangles, haha, yes those mantises aren't very photogenic are they? One of these days he'll pose for me, thats all part of the fun, isn't it? Thanks for the tip and the gracious compliment  , I'll try out those frozen shrimps (so far he's only been eating live crabs).
Thanks everyone, Brandon, the branching coral is a frogspawn
Burntom, I'll be looking for you pictures then
Bojangles, give it time. It took me awhile, but I feed about half an hour after the light turn on, so it has to open during the day if it wants food
The pictures may unfortunately have to wait until next year. I'm moving country (back to the UK) in February, and prior to that I'm just having a four month practice run with my small overflow with some left over LR and corals from my big tank (well, not that big - main tank = 90 US gals).
I was quite depressed about moving back to the small tank, but having seen the potential in nano threads like yours, I'm actually now rather looking forward to the scale of a tank like that.
Well, here it is... with some new additions!! Everything from the 3 gallon and the 10 gallon went into the 30 gallon. Still needs lots of live rock to fill it up, but I think I'm off to a good start.
