I am looking at using an eclipse 6 gal as a nano. Is a single 32 W 50/50 PC about right or should it be higher? I am think of just Mushrooms, xenia, and Zoos.

I see there are PC retrofit kits out (again) for the 6 gal ($70 @ LFS). Is this the way to go or is it cheaper /or better to piece something together?

If that's all you're planning on keeping, the 32w should do. If you find a need to bump it up, buy another and cram it in, or perhaps one of those little 9w or 13w PC50/50 bulbs would fit in easily.

That's a nasty price though. You can get it for half if you order it online.

Half??

How about a hint as where  ?

So far I have found the SunPaq Compact Fluorescent Retrofit Kits for ~$8 less than the LFS. For that price I'll support the local guy.

What the heck, go with the MH, that's what I did!!! In all seriousness, if it's only 8 bucks less than the LFS, go for it because the shipping would make it go over. Check out helloslights, they have cool stuff and good prices.

You can probably get a small PC ballast at home depot or Lowes for cheap..especially the low wattage like 32W....

Call Champion Lighting and see if they still have any CSL retros kicking around. They were really cheap a month or so ago.

That would perhaps be a little overkill on a 6 gal nano 8O . Well.... maybe not but, how do I keep from melting the center brace and hood :? ?
