I have an anenome in the tank, but my clownfish doesn't go near it. I don't even think he realizes it exists! However, I did notice unusual behavior from the clownfish recently. I have an oranged spotted goby and a mandarin fish in the tank, and it appears to me that the clownfish will rub his body up against the other fish. It doesn't look in any way like an attack...he just sort-of hovers over them and will occasionally touch them with his body. The other fish don't seem to mind at all. Anyone know why the clown does this? Or has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried?

Perplexed,
Kathy

I do not know about the rubbing, could be some sort of communication. The anenome may not be a type that hosts. What kind is it? What kind of clown do you have? I have heard that some types of tank raised clowns will not go near an anenome. just my .02
