Help identifying soft gelatinous material on live rock

We have a 12 gallon JBJ Nano Cube that has been up and running for almost 4 weeks.

A soft thin maroon gelatinous material has began to grow on one of the pieces of live rock.It is very interesting looking and is slowly spreading.

Any ideas as to what this is?

What are your other inhabbitants?
Is it fiji rock dont know but it may help someone, and yes pics are a huge help.
Probably a sponge or possibly some good ol cyno bacteria. Doubt it though the way you described it.

thanks everyone that commented on the sig, but it is no more.
Some staff and I decided that it was distaistful,I understand. When I saw I had PM I knew the sig was gone.

Heh, personally I didn't mind it. Bingo's calls me a "meat popsicle", and no one seems to have a problem with that.

It sounds like a common sponge. If it's growing, that's a very good sign. Sometimes when you break down an old tank you'll find sponges covering the entire shadowed portion of football sized rocks...kind of amazing the amount of life that exists in your tank without your knowledge!
